| Welcome and thank you for visiting Bluebonnet Brahman Association.
The Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders Association is a small group of cattlemen that raised Brahman influence cattle in Washington, Brazos, Burleson, Austin, Grimes and surrounding Counties, who marketed their cattle by networking with other breeders and commercial cattlemen. The Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders Association began in the mid 70’s. For many years the late Alfred Boeker served as President and Dr. David Husfeld served as a member on the Board of Directors. The Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders were virtually unknown until James Daniell and Barry Smith approached the ABBA in 2000 on behalf of the Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders to become the official new sponsors and to host the Kick – Off Classic. Well here we are today. This year the Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders Kick – Off Classic will celebrate its 10th Anniversary. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years. The BBB Kick – Off Classic has become one of the largest shows exclusively for Brahman Cattle. The first year the Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders held the Kick – Off Classic there were 150 head exhibited. In recent years we have exceeded our expectations and have had as many as 400 head exhibited. During the past 10 years our objectives have always remained the same. Our first objective was to create a family atmosphere. Each year we have a Welcome Lunch on Thursday, and over the last 9 years our Brahman friends have eaten 2000 hamburgers and 405 gallons of Blue Bell Ice Cream of various flavors. Our second was to make everyone want to come back the following year. Our show is exhibitor friendly. You can come early or stay late and we don’t require a “Release” to leave. We try to make your experience checking in cattle as painless as possible. Our third was to support our youth. Each year we send money to Junior Associations in various states to help with the All American or their State Junior Show. We have taken Blue Bell ice cream to Lawton, Oklahoma and Kerrville, Texas. Finally, at the end of each year make plans for the next year. It’s a never ending process. We are at the Washington County Fair business office the Monday after we our show has concluded to reserve the date for the next year. So, if you have never been to the Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders Kick – Off Classic, we can assure you that you will have a wonderful time. We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2010 Bluebonnet Brahman Breeders Kick – Off Classic. |
